Dogs’ Lives Are Short

December 30th, 2007

Girl and dog on beach

“Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but we know that going in. We know the pain is coming, we’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so we live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share his joy or delight in her innocence, because we can’t support the illusion that a dog can be our lifelong companion. There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware it comes with an unbearable price. Maybe loving dogs is a way we do penance for all the other illusions we allow ourselves and for the mistakes we make because of those illusions.”

paraphrased from “The Darkest Evening of the Year” by Dean Koontz.

Dog Balls

Kathy Sierra, over at Creating Passionate Users, asked her readers a number of questions. Here they are with my answers:

0) What’s my name and website URL? Joachim Klehe; www.HealthSecrets411.com and www.22panels.com (this blog).

1) What’s the most fun work I’ve ever done, and why? Buyer for a chain of record stores when I was in college. Exposed me to diverse styles of music that sparked a lifelong love of music that isn’t normally heard on radio stations.

2)A. What’s one thing I did in the past that I no longer do but wish I still did? Train regularly in Aikido.

B. What’s one thing I’ve always wanted to do but keep putting off? Become a very good ballroom dancer.

3)A. What two things would I most like to learn or be better at, and why? Being able to play either the guitar or drums. Being able to create music would be the creme de la creme of my love for music.

B. If I could take a class/workshop/apprentice from anyone in the world living or dead, who would it be and what would I hope to learn? Gary Halbert, master copywriter supreme. The arcane art of highly creative and wildly successful copywriting.

4)A. What three words might my best friends or family use to describe me? well-informed, articulate, focused.
B. Two more words I wish described me. rich, handsome.

5) What are my top three passions? My rescued dogs, collecting and enjoying music, continuous reading to expand my world.

6) Write and answer one more question that I would ask someone. If money was no object, what’s the one thing you would do? Buy and set up a ranch to house and take care of abandoned or abused animals.

Bonus: What’s the one question I wish people would ask themselves? What’s the source of this news, is it reliable, why should I believe it, and how does it affect me?

Made with iMovie, Garageband, and Quicktime Pro.
